Maybeline Color Tattoo REVIEW & Swatches

Hi Beauties,

Recently Maybelline debuted their spring/summer collection and some the hottest products from that collection were the Color Tattoos.

Product Description: Dare to wear our longest-lasting shadow. Our ink technology creates super-saturated color. Cream gel smoothes on for vibrant color that does not fade.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT:

Dare to wear 24HR shadow.
• Ink technology creates 24HR wear shadow for our most intense, long-lasting color saturation
• Cream formula glides on without creasing and keeps color vibrant
• Ophthalmologist-tested.  Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

FOR BEST RESULTS:

High impact look:
Illuminate. With fingertips, sweep all over eye from inner corner and work outwards.  For added drama, darken as desired.

The consistency is very creamy, and I can see these shadow's lasting a while considering you hardly need any product when applied. The colors are definitely more sheer at first but can be builded up to desired color. I was super surprised to see that the jars/packaging was actually glass, and I really love that about these. Their is only 10 shades which isn't to bad but I would have liked to see a more flesh tone color, or some pastels. Although, their are only 10 different colors the color selection is pretty ideal, minus the fact they don't have a flesh tone color. Other then that they pretty much hit ever color on the spectrum. I did only get 5 of them thus far. I really don't like to wear color on my eyes so I'm not sure if I will be picking up the brighter ones or not. As for 24 hours, well I did not wear them straight 24 hours but I did see after about 8-10 hour they were wearing off. Maybe if applied with a eye lid primer if your only wearing these it might make them last longer. I did find that when I used them as a primer, rather then a eyeshadow it did last a lot longer. The colors I picked up is

  • Pomegranate punk: This color is more of a copper toned color. Can be super pigmented if you build up the color. I was actually really surprised I liked this one because I normally wouldn't gravatite towards this color. It is very pretty alone, and under a shadow.
  • Painted Purple: This color is a very pretty lavender purple. Very bright and vibrant.
  • Tough as Taupe: This color is a matte taupe color obvi. The color is quite dark, but very pretty under a shadow. I have not wore this one alone only as a primer and I really love it. Probably one of my favorite from the five I got.
  • Bad to the Bronze: This color is a very gorgeous dark bronzy brown color. Can also be builded up to a very darker color. I do like this one as well. Have not wore this one alone either but I can say it does look great under a similar color.
  • Audacious Asphalt: This color I was a little disapointed in only because it almost pulls a grey's blue toned color. I really don't like blues on me to much. However, it does look pretty great under a black shadow for a really pretty smokey eye look.
Remaining colors:
Fierce and Tangly: this is a super vibrant bright orange.
Too Cool: This is a very sheer sparkly white color. I wouldn't mind this in my collection.
Tenacious Teal: This is also a very pretty color, and also very bright
Edgy Emerald: This is actually really pretty too! Haven't found this one but it looks great.

Overall for the price they are pretty great. Super inexpensive they run anywhere from $6-8 depending on the store. If you are wanting to pick up more then one I would recommend checking out your local Cvs, Rite aid, or Walgreens. Majority of the time one of them will have a buy one get on 50% off.  Each go on super smooth, and could be pretty pigmented. I prefer to use these like a Mac Paint pot. Under my eyeshadow using them as a primer. They're a heck of a lot cheaper then paint pots. I don't necessarily seem them being 24 hours, but they are pretty long lasting. I do believe these are now part of the permanent collection, and if so I really hope they come out with a bigger variety. I do recommend these if your looking for a quick and easy makeup look, or if you just don't want to spend the $20 on a paint pot. In comparable to the paint pot, I do think the consistency is pretty much the same. and the packaging is pretty close as well. I also really enjoy these because if wanted you could also use them as a gel liner so their pretty versatile.

What do you think of these? What colors did you pick up?

  11. Really reminiscent of the Chanel pots last year. Tattoo seems a bit weird to be included in the name but I'd love to give these a try! Great pics...very tempting!
